DSW: Vaccinate for more presence

• Deutsches Studentenwerk (DSW) calls on students to get vaccinated
• The goal: to enable attendance at universities in the winter semester 2021/2022

Berlin, 16 July 2021. Deutsches Studentenwerk (DSW) is calling on students to take advantage of the vaccination offers made by the states and universities to enable more face-to-face events at universities in the upcoming winter semester 2021/2022. The DSW is the umbrella organization of the 57 Studentenwerke and Studierendenwerke in Germany.

DSW Secretary General Achim Meyer auf der Heyde explains: "After three digital semesters, many students long for more direct interaction at the university. Discussing together in seminars, eating in the dining halls or studying in the library - that's what campus life is all about.

There is a good chance that students will be more present during their studies. The key is for as many students as possible to be vaccinated against COVID-19. That's why Deutsches Studentenwerk, together with the German Rectors' Conference (Hochschulrektorenkonferenz - HRK), supports the German government's call to students to take advantage of the vaccination offers from the states, the government and universities."

Numerous states and universities are currently planning vaccination concepts specifically for students - or are already implementing them. For example, Studierendenwerk Berlin has already vaccinated more than 2,000 students.

The German government is also trying to get as many people as possible to get a COVID 19 vaccination with its "Deutschland krempelt die Ärmel hoch" ("Germany rolls up its sleeves") campaign.
