Farewell: C-Caffè closes at the end of March

Farewell on Templergraben: After more than ten years the C-Caffè, located on the ground floor of the SuperC, is going to be closed down. The coffee bar run by Studierendenwerk was established in 2008 and is going to serve coffee and snacks for the last time on Friday, 29 March.
The decisive factor for shutting down the coffee bar is the rent increase that was stipulated for 2019. “As the C-Caffè is only open during the day and run on the basis of socially acceptable prices we cannot manage it cost-effectively any longer”, the Studierendenwerk CEO Dirk Reitz explains his decision. “We are very sad – our coffee bar was a popular meeting place for many students. For the future we hope that a facility similarly good and low-priced will be established in the location.” Initially, the contract was going to expire at the end of January, but the University offered an extension on the basis of the old conditions until the end of March.
The C-Caffè, named in a student name contest, was established shortly after the SuperC opened. Supplementing the dining hall Bistro Templergraben next door, we serve sweet and savoury snacks and many different Italian coffee specialties there.
Studierendenwerk thanks all customers and is looking forward to welcoming them on Pontwall in the main dining hall. There they can enjoy cake, buns and coffee in the AcademiCaffè.
