Money for emergency funds of Studierendenwerke

Anja Karliczek, the Federal Minister of Education and Research, announced today that German and foreign students will be able to obtain interest-free loans up to €650 per month through Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW). In addition, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research will provide 100 million euros to the emergency fund of the Studenten- und Studierendenwerke organised by Deutsches Studentenwerk (DSW) as a non-repayable grant for students in particularly acute emergencies. Implementation via Studenten- and Studierendenwerke
Starting next week, Deutsche Studentenwerk (DSW), the umbrella organization of the 57 German Studenten- and Studierendenwerke, will discuss the concrete procedure and conditions for the allocation to students in urgent need with the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as well as with the Studenten- and Studierendenwerke. We, Studierendenwerk Aachen, are also doing our utmost to ensure that this aid can be distributed quickly to students in need. We actively inform when it starts.
