TANDEM Special: Zittau cooks for Aachen

What’s going to be on your plate when you order the dishes “Deichelmauke“ and “Schlesisches Himmelreich“? They are typical dishes from Saxony and you can taste them in June. Colleagues from Dresden are going to visit Studierendenwerk Aachen!

In the last few years, dining hall chefs from German Studentenwerke have frequently had the opportunity of exchanging experiences with their colleagues from other cities: The “Tandem Project –Studentenwerke in dialogue” was first initiated in 2005. Two Studentenwerke get together as a "tandem" and present regional dishes to each other. Not only do the cooks get to know new recipes but our customers can also taste culinary specialities from other regions in Germany.

The colleagues from Dresden are going to visit us in Aachen from 20 to 22 June. Fans of hearty food can look forward to the dishes they will prepare: The dining hall chefs from Zittau bring creative recipes from the tripoint of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic. There will be an information desk in Mensa Academica where you can learn interesting facts about that region. You can even try local black beer (Eibauer Schwarzbier) and/or cake (Oberlausitzer Kleckskuchen).

Tuesday, 20 June:
"Bautzner Senfeiersuppe", soup with mustard and eggs | 0,50 €

Wednesday, 21 June:

Thursday, 22 June:
"Oberlausitzer Hochzeitssuppe", boullion with egg garnish, dumplings and vegetables | 0,50 €
"Schweinesteak Spreewälder Art", pork steaks with horseradish, pickles and cheese crust, potato salad and crudités | 3,90* €
