Together to the Fairtrade University

RWTH Aachen awarded Fairtrade University status

Universities should be role models - they speak out for socio-cultural and ecological progress in our society. This is also the case in Aachen: Today, RWTH Aachen University and its partners were awarded the title of "Fairtrade University".

Representatives of the university, the city of Aachen, the student council and the catering department of the Studierendenwerk are involved in the "Fairtrade University at RWTH" initiative. They are all pulling together to make the issue of Fairtrade visible to their surroundings and are also committed to ensuring that the products used in their areas of responsibility come from fair trade.

This, of course, includes university catering. The Studierendenwerk is pleased to be part of the development towards becoming a Fairtrade university and would like to support the process even more in the future. The catering department already participates in this in many ways: for example, fair trade coffee, cocoa, and tea are served in the cafeterias, and many foods used in the dining halls come from the region.

RWTH has compiled more information about the Fairtrade University on its website.
