Student Housing is growing
Project developer BONAVA and Studierendenwerk Aachen are jointly celebrating the completion of the structural work on new student apartments; completion is scheduled for summer 2027
With a joint topping-out ceremony, housing developer BONAVA and Studierendenwerk Aachen celebrated an important milestone in “Rütscherhof” new-construction project: 43 student apartments are being built here in a prime location—the structural work is complete, and if everything continues to go according to plan, the first students will be able to move in as early as summer 2027.
The new construction project spans a total area of more than 6,000 square meters between Roermonder Straße and Rütscher Straße. Approximately 1,200 square meters are earmarked for student apartments. Studierendenwerk invested about 6.4 million euros in the project and received support through public housing subsidies from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
A partnership without friction
In her opening remarks, Anke Schmidt, Head of Legal and Investor Relations at BONAVA, expressed her gratitude for the trusting collaboration to date: “Especially in a vibrant university city like Aachen, modern and affordable housing is a key component. That’s why we’re very pleased to be realizing this goal with a strong and reliable partner by our side. The collaboration with Studierendenwerk Aachen has been based on trust, constructive dialogue, and partnership from the very beginning.”
Sebastian Böstel, Managing Director of Studierendenwerk Aachen, could only return this gratitude: “We haven’t encountered a single difficulty throughout the entire project phase so far. Such a smooth partnership is anything but a given in the construction industry, and we look forward to completing the project together in this spirit.”
Short distances to downtown and the university
These approximately 20-square-meter living units are particularly attractive due to their central location right at Aachen’s Ponttor. From here, future residents can reach downtown, the RWTH institutes, the main dining hall, and the train station in just a few minutes. With their own bathrooms and kitchens, the apartments are well-equipped and thus meet the needs of today’s students.
